Below are links to resources that will help you utilitze our web site. There are tutorials for the Make-A-Map application, a listed description of each ArcIMS tool on the Make-A-Map toolbar, a search form for the Map Archives, a link to the Microsoft site where you can upgrade your browser or download a browser service pack, a glossary of GIS terms, and a few words about regularly scheduled system downtime.

Make-A-Map Tutorial
Users will hopefully find many of these tools are intuitive to use; however, we have compiled several help pages for users. Click here to open a tutorial of how to use Make-A-Map.

Make-A-Map Toolbar
The Make-A-Map interractive map is built using ESRI's ArcIMS technology. As such, most of the tool buttons are standard ArcIMS tools. Click here to view a list of common ArcIMS tools.

Map Archive Search
The Map Archive database stores records to track map products authored by the LDEQ GIS Center. Database records span the years 1999-current. The Archive Map Search web pages were created to allow LDEQ staff and the public the ability to search these records. Click here to enter the Map Archive search page.

Internet Browser Help

All of the map service software used at the LDEQ are simple web pages. Therefore, if you have any problems running a map service, the problem is likely with your web browser. This application requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 or higher with scripting enabled.

You will not be able to fully utilize the resources on this site without Internet Explorer version 5.5 SP2 (or later).

This site is designed for screen size 1024x768 pixels.

To change the resolution, right-click on your desktop, select Properties > Settings, then slide the "Screen Resolution" slider until it reads "1024 by 768 pixels" and click "Apply".

System Maintenance Schedule
The map server on which the ArcIMS map services are housed will be taken down for maintenance between 6:00-9:00 AM CST on the first Monday of every month.

There may be additional, unscheduled downtime for security or operating system stability reasons. Such unscheduled maintenance is unavoidable but will be kept to a minimum.
